On Saturday evening a late night news weather presenter declare that the days weather had been disappointing! Agreed, Saturday afternoon was chilled and cloudy but it still provided good conditions for our penultimate home game agasinst Crewe and Nantwich.
Although th team was weakened due to injuries and unavailabilities the programme displayed a list of players that had first tam experience and suggested a good competition.
As spectators, have we come to expet too much of our young team? Very soon the game became flat and disappointing, turning into a chaotic comedy of errors with us gifting our opponents 11 points in as many minutes.
Crewe and Nantwich's style of play reflected the being in 8th place in the league but they weree more than a match for Walsall. Their bulky forward controlled the scrum and thir backs hunted us in threes, negating any attempts by us to crte our usually fast flowing style of rugby. Ofter at the breakdown we appeared to be struggling to match the opposition in numbers.
Hopefully we will be able to put this disappointing performance behind us, regain our composure and see the season out with at least two mor victories from our three remaining league games to retain our commendable second in the league position.
